RICCARDO SALLUSTI
WHO
as Multimedia Designer first and as Multimedia Developer later, in charge to design and develop all kind of interactive web content (above all many Kinder Ferrero Flash games).
I then moved to Marketing and Advertising, where I worked in the production of hundreds of online campaigns, involving many clients: Apple, Eni, Ferrero, Nissan, McDonald’s above all.
In this context, my self-taught multidisciplinary training allowed me to cover the most varied roles: from Designer to Developer, from PM to Campaign Manager, and Copyrighter.
I am a so-called ‘Geek’ and a fluent English speaker.
THEN
I decided to change sector and dedicate myself to projects that really impact people lives. So I moved to Kalpa, a company that is leader in technological innovation in the fields of firmware, embedded software, mobile, web and cloud, in sectors ranging from medical, home and industrial automation to energy control, from automotive to electronic devices.
First as Solution Analyst, I was then lended full-time to ABB as Product Owner Consultant for its IoT and Asset Manager web Platform, an International project, where English and Agile Methodologies are mandatory.

HOW
Class ’72, I started programming in Basic when few people knew what a PC was. Today few people know what Basic is and yet I’m still here with the same enthusiasm and passion as then.
What I’ve become experienced with, in these 25 years, is bridging the gap between clients’ business needs and Technical solutions. Between who speaks the business language and Engineers that speaks technical: a bridge between needs and solutions.
My 360° experience in all the fields of Technology, from design to development, from Marketing to Project Management, allowed me to make potentially right decisions, to prioritize tasks and to allocate resources where needed.

A small selection of my works covering 25 years of career (click on a each project to see details).
iContact U
Did you ever forget to call or contact someone you ought to? With iContactU this will never happen again!
iContactU allows you to create a list of people to contact for some reason, at a given date and time. Then the app will order all your reminders by date, and will alert you with a notification (and a badge) at day and time you’ve set: for an Account or a Project Manager could be a life saver…
How it works: You select a contact from your Address Book, write a reason why, select date and time, then forget it!
iContactU will remind you to contact the people you’ve selected in the exact moment you should, and you can reach them directly from the app, by phone, sms or email, just clicking on the corresponding button!
And most of all this app is completely free: no adv, no banners, no in app purchases.
Features: Developed entirely in Apple Swift, Address Book access, CoreData, reminders, alerts end notifications, direct access to phone, messages and email.
The source code is Open Source and released for educational and learning purposes: you can find it here.
Alfa Romeo
For the Alfa Romeo Portal: this was an enormous project that involved the effort and the work of many people. Personally, I have been involved in the implementation of most of the Flash animations and interactivity throughout the site. I developer entirely the Templates sections, the mini-8c, 8c Spider and MiTo.

Bref
I developed all the experience in flash (AS3), managed video timing, choir syncing, user interaction and integrated all with youtube platform.
Summary:
Bref Power Active 4 in 1 is Henkel’s new product for toilet cleaning. It has an innovative shape of four colored balls, and each ball has a specific function. The core taget is represented by young women interested on new solutions and new media. TBWAItalia created an online experience fully dedicated to these ladies.
The idea is to create the launch of a new boy band: The Balls Dream Boys.
On a dedicated YouTube Brand Channel, a musical video of the boy band shows them trapped in four white cages. They sing a very special love song. When the chorus comes, the band prays the user to pull the chain that suddenly appears. Everytime the user flushes, the boys lose some clothes till they’re left in their underpants – and the users finds out where they were, and who are them.
Users can dedicate the song to their friends: typing their names in, they’d listen to a personalized chorus.

Cellularline
For Cellularline we had to find a way to navigate a Youtube video through video annotations, in a very unique way: six videos of the same event were shot from different point of views.
The user, clicking on six animated video thumbnails at the bottom of the main video (like a navigation menu) could switch from a POV to the other, jumping at the very exact point in time.
The only way of doing this from Youtube’s annotation creation tool is to create each annotation manually, one by one. In our case we are talking about five annotations (six minus one) for every second of video. Thousands.
To bypass that, I found a way to upload thousands of annotations on a youtube video, programmatically and automatically.
I’ve created a tool in Flash that generates a formatted xml containing all annotations info then, using a workaround, I was able to upload this xml to youtube, making all the annotations appear over the video.
Watch the video to see the effect in action: the annotations start after 30 seconds.
